Weather Policy |
In the case of inclement
weather, each Rec Council Soccer Commissioner will determine if games are cancelled for their fields. For
Churchville hosted games, the Churchville Soccer Commissioner will decide on Saturday morning at
7:30PM for ages U-8 through U-15. The Churchville Clinic Program director will make the
call for clinic 1 hour prior to the start of practice. If games are cancelled at any time,
all subsequent games will be cancelled for the remainder of the day. This policy is in place since
referees are dismissed and will not be called back.
If games are cancelled,
this web site will be updated and all Churchville
coaches will be notified that
Churchville home games are cancelled. Please remember it is the HOME
field coach's responsibility to call the opposing coach to inform them of
weather issues. That call should be made by 8:00 am of game day. After
coaches call the opposing coach, individuals may be contacted on the team.
If you are playing an away game, the opposing team coach should call you
if games are cancelled. All coaches contact information is available on the
schedules forms that are distributed.
As a reminder, any make-up
games due to rain outs will not be supported with league
referees. It is up to the coaches to ref the
game if you decide to schedule a makeup

Harford County Hot Weather Advisory |
The best defense against heat-related illnesses is prevention, including the
following recommendations:
-
Dress appropriately
for the heat.
Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose
fitting clothing. Wear a wide-brimmed hat
or carry an umbrella.
-
Drink plenty of
fluids.
Take frequent water or juice breaks throughout the
day even if you aren’t thirsty. Avoid
alcohol or caffeinated drinks which prevented the body from cooling itself.
-
When possible, stay
in air-conditioned areas. Electric fans alone
will not prevent heat-related illnesses.
If air conditioning is unavailable, visit a shopping mall, library, or friend or
family member who has air conditioning available.
-
Limit strenuous outdoor activities.
Stay indoors as much as possible when temperatures rise. Limit outdoor activities to the coolest
part of the day before 8 a.m. and after sunset.
-
Keep pets indoors and keep water bowls filled.
Remember pets don’t sweat, so they can easily become
overheated when temperatures rise. When
walking your dog, keep in mind the sidewalks and blacktops can burn the pads of
their paws. Instead walk your dog in the
grass or a dirt path. NEVER leave your
pets in your car during hot, summer temperatures.
-
Never, ever leave young children, the
elderly or pets in a car even with the windows cracked.
